TAKE ACTION
Are you a tenant? Join with fellow tenants and build our collective political and economic power. Renters are a majority in Bellingham - we have power in numbers. Being a BTU member is simple and isn't a big commitment. We are stronger together, join us!
Now is the time for bold leadership on the housing crisis to protect Bellingham and the people who live and work here. Add your name to our Open Letter to the Bellingham City Council and Mayor Linville and demand they act with urgency to address the crisis.
What has your experience been renting in Bellingham? We want to hear your story. Together we can expose slumlords, show how unaffordable rents destabilize our community, and make our case to the public why we must change laws to protect tenants. Don't worry, we'll reach out to you before we publish anything.
Renters tend to underrepresent in elections while homeowners overrepresent. Many of us forget to update our voter registration in the whirlwind of moving. WE CAN CHANGE THIS. TurboVote makes voting easy. Get text and email reminders about elections, register to vote, request a ballot, and more!
We have a variety of events, whether it's fighting for tenant rights and speaking up together at City Council, or making decisions as a union at one of our General Membership Meetings.
Tell your friends, family, and colleagues about our involvement. Face-to-face conversations are the best way to get others involved. Follow us on social media and help us get the word out.
Members of the BTU can hold multiple roles (you are not limited to one) in the union: Stewards, Organizers, and Elected Leaders. All these roles are essential for a functioning and powerful union.
